Have you ever responded not based on what you know but based on what you think you know?
Simple yet tricky circumstances, and often happens in our subliminal state of mind. Somehow, this premise has resulted in a great film, Crash. Watching it, I felt like being slapped so many times. It deals with prejudice, racial hatred, and competitive urban life and love, those universal values shared by all human being.
Imagine two black guys walking down the street, talking why white people are afraid of them. Then a white man and a white woman were walking from the opposite direciton. One of these two black men strongly believes that white pople are afraid of them because they think black men are bad, mean and harsh. The other one was convincing his friend that it is only in his head. It was more or less like this:
Black man 1: "Look, that woman holds her man’s arm as soon as she saw us approaching! She must be frightened just by the sight of two black men walking down the street!"
Black man 2: "Easy man… She might be cold or just being cheeky"
Yet, the black men ended up mugging that couple! Rob their car and the whole story started rolling, Intertwining several characters and parallel stories into one nice thread.
The "bad guy" wasn’t bad at all, the "good guy" was not that good after all.
The victim turned out to be the most scandalous one. So damn well scripted, Very well acted and amazing cinematography. I was trully blown away!
Speak no more, but: "You think you know who you are. You have no idea"
